Automobile emissions are statistically gamma distributed.

چکیده
In the present study, we investigated the statistical distributions of on-road CO and HC emissions by comparing the skewness and kurtosis of the distributions. The results of the analysis based on remote sensing data sets show that on-road automobile CO and HC emission distributions are well represented by a y-distribution. Laboratory dynamometer emissions measurements are similarly distributed, thus the classical statistics based on the assumptions of normal distributions cannot be applied.

On-Road Remote Sensing of Automobile Emissions in the Phoenix Area: Year 1
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The University of Denver conducted a four-day remote sensing study in the Phoenix, AZ area in the fall of 1998. The remote sensor used in this study is capable of measuring the ratios of CO, HC, and NO to CO 2 in motor vehicle exhaust. From these ratios, we calculate the percent concentrations of CO, CO 2 , HC and NO in motor vehicle exhaust which would be observed by a tailpi...
متن کاملUnsuccessful suicide by carbon monoxide: a secondary benefit of emissions control.
Emission systems and devices are required on automobile engines to reduce air pollution problems. Catalytic converters have been used on most 1975 and newer automobiles to reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions to a value that meets the Environmental Protection Agency requirements established for 1975 and 1976. The 1980-1981 Boise, Idaho, study shows that with a functioning catal...
متن کاملAdditional evidence of nuclear emissions during acoustic cavitation.
Time spectra of neutron and sonoluminescence emissions were measured in cavitation experiments with chilled deuterated acetone. Statistically significant neutron and gamma ray emissions were measured with a calibrated liquid-scintillation detector, and sonoluminescence emissions were measured with a photomultiplier tube. The neutron and sonoluminescence emissions were found to be time correlate...

The University of Denver conducted a five-day remote sensing study in the Chicago area in the fall of 1997. From these ratios, we calculate the percent concentrations of CO, CO 2 , HC and NO in motor vehicle exhaust which would be observed by a tailpipe probe, corrected fo...
متن کاملA Simulation-Based Methodology for Analyzing Congestion and Emissions on a Transportation Network
In this paper, a simulation-based methodology is developed to analyze the effects of two transportation control strategies on congestion and automobile emissions. In particular, two types of road pricing implementations are studied: a Cordon Scheme and a Per-Mile Area Link Charging Scheme. The resulting model is then applied to the metropolitan Atlanta interstate highway system. Finally, the re...
